Shoe Of The Week 1 June 2012

SHOE OF THE WEEK...

On Wednesday 30th of May, I wrote a blog post
featuring the newest craze to hit the shoe industry:

So it only figures that my shoe of the week
would be my top fav from her launch collection...
And welcome to the stage:

LOUISA CHAIN BOOTIES

I love these mostly because of their "rocker" edge but with
CJG's signature minty green under-sole
this shoe really POPS for me....

Check out her website over here,
and go buy the shoe from TOPSHOP over here!

Bodysuits Are Back with Nasty Gal

The Body Suit...
....................................................

... we saw a re-appearance of body suits in 2010/2011 when people
started realizing that even tho it's a huge mission if you need to pee, these little
babies come nicely in handy when wearing anything high-waisted as it covers your midriff (if that's what you want) as well as acts as a top that STAYS nicely tucked-in... no creepage or unflattering rolls in your top ;)

Now along with the bustier trends, bodysuits are big and back!!

Nasty Gal is my favourite clothing label for RIGHT NOW. I just love EVERYTHING on their site... The styles, the prints... now Nasty Gal also has the most trendy gorgeous collection of body suits, as well as a nice array of styles to suit any girl...

LOOK OUT FOR:

Cut-out details
Lacey bits
Mesh
Vintage (sweet-heart) shapes

Remember you're going for less of the body-builder look and more of the tight interesting cute top look....

The nice thing about Body Suits is that you can wear them as a layering item in Winter too... They are comfy as hell and makes you feel like a bit of a dancer when you have one on, even if no one else can see it ;)

Click here to go to the Bodysuit section on the Nasty Gal website!

Below are a few of MY favs... What are yours?

Enjoy!

I'm just LOVING

Anything that's remotely reminiscent of the 90's grunge style...
Kate Moss in particular got this right in her late 80's
early 90's self... (notice the VERY 90's backpack hehe)

This would be my ideal outfit now... I'm loving black and gold
and think this is a great platform to bring in everyone's current

Chloe Jade Green - Shoe Design Launches May 2012

Chloe Jade Green...
............................................

... is new on the scene of Shoe Design. So new, infact her brand which she named after herself (sassy..) was launched only THIS MONTH! On the 15th of May 2012 Chloe Jade Green invited her close and personal to be the very very first to shop her launch collection at her personalized space at TOPSHOP, Oxford Circus in London.
(see her featured designs on their site over here!)

Image from the CJG Blog - Link on her site

Must have been fun for them as Chloe has named her first collection of shoes after said "close and personals"... how sweet!

Now this girl is new on the scene, and my-oh-my can she design on hell of a shoe... Quoted from her website:

"Chloe’s first collection takes inspiration from illustrated symbols of hearts, skulls, roses and anchors and worked with vintage beads and trims to create the unique handwriting behind her collection."

Even the wallpaper on her website is totally delectable... a total design WIN in every aspect!

Her look book for her first launch is also pretty interesting, and reminds me of a girl getting ready to go out, tottering around her London townhouse trying out different outfits and shoes... Very sweet.

One thing to note too is that each shoe is given Chloe's "signature" minty green outsole in genuine leather... Mmm, anyone else thinking Louboutin's first signature red outsole?? .. Mmm

Nevertheless, I am in awe and totally smitten with each design... Gorgeous stuff!

Enjoy the lookbook pics taken from her site...
Go there and spread the CJG love people!

I LOVE the design of her shoe boxes...!! Note the wallpaper on her website ;)

Mary Meyer Clothing - My NEW find!

Mary Meyer...

... is my lekker new find that I'm loving. In my personal style I seem to be leaning
a little more towards cleaner looking silhouettes, prints and styles... and at the moment I'm loving this girls stuff!

Mary Meyer graduated from the California College of the Arts with a degree in painting, and whilst studying played around with interesting crafts such as woodwork, weaving and dyeing... naturally she gravitated towards fashion and after her studies in 2005 started her brand straight out of her own living room!! Inspiring stuff...

This is the brains behind her own name

Mary is known for her casual looks and stiking, sexy and simple prints. Her inspiration includes:

African Textiles
Japaneese Dye Techniques
Pop Art
90's Goth/Grunge Culture

Mary Meyer's Spring 2012 Collection really encompasses all she is. Black, White, simple and clean. Take a look at the images of her attire below (all taken from her site you can check out over here) and be inspired!! Even if it IS going in to Winter here in South Africa... ;)

Enjoy!!

Stefania Morland - A/W 2012

Stefania Morland...

...................................................

... is by far one of my favourite South African designers.

She first caught my eye at last years S.A Fashion Week in Cape Town with her dazzling show which ended off with a magnificent fluffy ball gown worn by a beautiful singer whos head was adorned with branches and twigs and there were these serene flying paper birds hanging everywhere... This image really does the show no justice but to give you an idea:

Now when one hears the name Stefania Morland, one thinks ruffles, feathers, prime beauty and everything gorgeous, lavish and feminine. Her wedding dresses, amongst her other designs, really are a treat for the eye...

And her A/W 2012 campaign encompasses just that. Shot by Kris Roussouw, this shoot hold a romantic, almost dark, allure of soft tonal colours and stunning garments... Again, like most other big fashion labels the colours for her palette tend to lean towards neutrals, blacks and whites of different variation to create tone and shadows within the outfits. Beautiful stuff.

Seeing designers like this and campaigns so beautifully executed as this was makes me totally proud to live in such an amazingly talented and creatively diverse country.

Enjoy!

A Fashion Friend - Expose

A Fashion Friend - Expose...

..............................................

... Well hello there. Let me first start this post by introducing to you a brilliant locally created
online fashion Magazine type module called A Fashion Friend.
I am constantly on there, browsing and looking through all the great stuff they feature and explore...

Their newest issue, actually released today, holds a shoot called Expose,
which I think brilliantly summarizes quite a few current A/W trends...

Firstly, I love this striking shoot... Anything black and white always catched my eye ;) Avron and Chloe (the photographer and stylist for this shoot) found old newspapers from the 40's and 50's one day and hence found their muse for this shoot...

" It's a pity how cluttered and undramatic the newspapers are today, everything seemed
so much more animated back then. We kept everything monochrome because we wanted her to be a part of the background, like she'd stepped out of the front page. We called it Exposé
beacuse it was almost as if she had been exposed. "

- Chloe

This shoot is a pretty cool mix of all that is fun this winter:

Thigh-high stockings
Houndstooth, Polka Dots, Stripes and Leopard Prints
Fur
Printed stockings
Collars
and my fav ... printed striking graphic tees!

Well done to those involved:

Photography - Avron

Styling and Design - Chloe Andrea
(my cousin... yes, see how the fashion flair runs

Concept and Art direction - Avron and Chloe Andrea

Model- Nikita Stallbom from Boss

Enjoy the images and don't forget to go look at all the other fashiony bits in their newest issue over here ;)
