Streets Of Justice - Fashion Editorial

Streets Of Justice...

.....................

.. shot by Julia Kiecksee for HIRO

features a very dark almost ghetto-goth-glam
girl, strutting about the streets in gorgeous but dark attire that is
directly juxtaposed against the gritty street setting behind.

(I'd love to see a girl try this in the streets of South Africas more "dodgier" suburbs... LOL)
So. What can we learn from this shoot, besides how to carry out a fantastic
fashion editorial? - Crosses seem to be here for longer than most anticipated, and
all that glitters is still in, come rain or shine. As well as dark lips.... yes. dark lips.

 Enough said

LOVE everything about this shoot.

All That Glitters ... is Nasty Gal

All That Glitters...

....................................

Looks like Nasty Gal was on the same
brain wave as Miss Ivy with the
"All That Glitters" vibe...

Check out my All That Glitters Pinterest Board
over HERE!

It's no secret that fashion is taking a lean again towards
the shiny, glittery, sequiny and glamarous.

More is definitely MORE
and this season (and probably the next)
it's all about embellishments, studs, sequins,
metallics, and anything else
to make you
feel
like
a
queen.

Upsidedown Crosses With Asian Stereotypes!

With Asian Stereotypes...

...........................................................

... Hello, and welcome to my new fav find -

With Asian Stereotypes.

This fashion brand fist caught my attention when I noticed a whole lot of
upside down crosses
on printed tees and hanging from chains. My first thought -
oh
wow, that's a bold move!

LOVE these ripped tights from With Asian Stereotypes...!!

Now, living in South Africa where most has been conditioned to be very
sensitive towards people's race, cultures and religions, I highly doubt
a brand like this would go down well on the streets of Cape Town, sad as this
is to say, as I love the cheekiness of the upside down goth cross.

Now, before you start throwing your bibles at my face, let's take a little look into
where this symbol comes from and what it really means:

The "Upside Down Cross" is otherwise knows as the Cross of St. Peter, and
SURPRISE SURPRISE was actually, traditionally, used as a symbol of Christianity
as St. Peter himself was crucified upside down, on a very upside down cross.
The reason for this? St. Peter requested to be crucified in this manner as he felt
unworthy to be crucified in the same was as our boy Jesus himself.

Some Catholics still, to this day, use an upside down cross to symbolize our humility,

and our unworthiness in comparison to Jesus Christ...

SO, whether you even believe in God and/or Jesus or not, it's always good to know a little more about this symbol the next time you decide to sport an upside down cross to Sunday school, kids :p

With Asian Stereotypes is chock full of upside down cross goodness.
Their shapes are SO basic, but their witchy gothy prints are stark and cheeky,
and will look great with a pair of distressed denims and lace-up docs.

Their jewellery is also gorgeous and def worth taking a look at!

Below are a few of my FAV pieces from their shop...

Visit their website here,
and look out for other With Asian Stereotypes pieces dotted across blogs and Pinterests alike ;)

ENJOY

XO
