Olsen Twins - PRO Fur?!

Meet The Trollsens...

...........................................................

... Wow. I'm usually very opinionated when it comes to things,
however with this one I'm left sitting on the fence I'm afraid.

So, what's going down? Basically, my two fav celebs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
have designed a fur "encrusted" backpack that has already been spotted on the
streets on New York for a mere $17 000! Shew!

And no, this bag
(I say with a heavy heart) is NOT faux-fur :(

This is said fur BAG - now on sale via The Row (The Olsen Twins' High Fashion line)

SIDE NOTE: I am seriously against the use of real fur in today's fashion, and think that it is FUCKING disgusting,
sick and sad when people resort to this when
we're living in an era
where we have faux-fur that is SO close to the "real" thing, most
can't tell the difference when set next to each other... Sigh. Major disappointed girls...

Now PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have (as they always do)
gone to the extreme to put their message across about their views on the topic.

Before I go on... take a look here:

Meet The Trollsens.

Now COME ON people, seriously??
"Full House of Horrors"
and
"Dress Up - Hairy Kate and Trashley"

Hey! There are even FREE web banner and buddy icons for those of
you who want to join ranks with the always over-the-top
animal rights group... tut tut.
Dress Up The Trollsen Twins!

Bit sad that PETA has to go to these lengths to make their point.
Not saying that a simple tap on the hand would suffice, but I just can't
take any activist group seriously with this kind of shit.. I mean REALLY, they could
be putting their efforts into saving more animals than setting up some
immature highschool-ish douchbagish website and creating their stupid little animations... goddam.

A little quote from PETA:

"What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it’s the foxes, calves, and alligators – who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain – who pay the dearest price"

LOL at the first bit - clearly everyone in PETA has no fashion intellect.... However
I totally agree with the second part... animal cruelty should NOT be tolerated.
I think that using fur is extreme and unnecessary,

THEN AGAIN

so is an organization that bombs an animal test lab that is dedicated to finding cures
for various diseases (let's not mention who was inside at the time...) and not to
forget a little something called The "Total Liberation of Seeing-Eye Dogs"...?
Clearly every member of PETA still have their sight. Assholes.
*cough cough PETA cough*

Good intentions but fucked up and flawed message.

So yes. Sitting on the fence on this one I'm afraid... What is your view?

XO

Time to take off the furs girls... Come now? Didn't your parents raise you right?

  1. I am not a fan of PETA and their often crude advertising. They have used everything from blatant sexism to a conflation of sex and violence in order to make their causes heard. Whilst I understand the need to be 'revolutionary' in their advertising campaigns to draw attention to their often important work, they cross the line and undo all the work that other groups of people have done.

I'm not a fan of the Olsen Twins either and this bag just proves my theories about them. But the thing about PETA is that they are completely fickle. If the Olsen twins go vegan tomorrow and start an anti-fur campaign, Hell, those twins will be butt naked, asses out and goji berries covering their nipples. Ah, it's all too fake.

    1. Hehe Ru I thought you'd comment on this ;)

You're so right though... I love the Olsen Twins and think The Row is ingenious and pretty revolutionary in terms of what is coming
out of young designers today... But yes. You're totally right in your second paragraph... I think PETA's "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" is a bit of a try-too-harder of a campaign if you ask me... and HUGE LOL at your goji berry comment!!!!! lmfao!
