Blogger of the Moment - Saturday Girl SA

Saturday Girl SA...

...................................................

... I absolutely love the city I live in, and even more than that the people.
Cape Town really has some of the most diverse cultures and personalities in the world, and the same applies for its bloggers.

And now:
Meet Natalie, the girl behind the "Saturday Girl SA" blog!

Natalie

Just look at this gorgeous face!

I love her blog, firstly because of how personal it is. Natalie allows her readers
to have a first hand glance into her world and passions. Her blog is foremost
driven by her love for fashion, and is encrusted with photos and details about her daily life :)

Natalie, girl after my own heart, also has a huge passion for Dance. She is currently studying at VEGA and in what spare time she has she is a freelance stylist. I managed to get hold of her for more info... This is what she said:

How would you define your personal style?

--> Hmmm thats super tricky lol I tend to see it as a beach/surfer/hippy girl kind of style all year round, I love brands like Von Zipper, RVCA and Insight, the whole beach girl hippy feel is totally my vibe, I usually wear tight skinny jeans ( I am obsessed with Jeans) ans Converse sneakers. I love to mix and match with casual styles I am all about tight on the bottom, flowy on top and I love accessories, rings and earrings that reflect my mood or feel.

What are your TOP 3 Summer 2012 Trends?

--> Loads of necklaces all worn at once from chunky to to fine necklaces.
 Brightly coloured shorts, especially high-waisted
Cute 1920's style summer dresses with quirky sunglasses

Do you have any fav local shopping places?

--> I am a big fan of Mr Price Clothing and Second Hand shopping as well as local Fashion Markets. Amazing talent in SA!
Just a few things Natalie likes... and a small introduction to her blog!
................
Like myself, Natalie is also an avid Polyvore - ist!
Her sets pretty accurately reflect her own style in a way,
and it's clear this girl has a knack for fashion

Be sure to visit and follow

Gotta LOVE the talent in South Africa!
ENJOY

Scrabbyl - A South African Surprise!

SCRABBYL...

...................................................

... Is a name you need to look out for if you reside in Sunny South Africa..

With Cape Town being Design Capital of the WORLD
(yes, the world mother cluckers)
for 2014, it's time for ALL of us in South Africa to start Lovin' Local
and to start recognizing the very few (VERY courageous)
people in ZA who take it upon themselves to push our local creatives.

Scrabbyl, being one of them! Scrabbyl is a JHB based mobile
Pop-Up store
that started up this year and aims to promote
local fashion and accessory brands through their pop-up shops
and Scrabbyl open days. Scrabbyl also aims to maintain realistic
for our pockets, yet only chooses brands that produce items with
love and great quality :)

Mbali, local lekker brains behind this project, believes that
if you can't bring the customers to the product, take the product to the
customer...

Their brands, so far, include Rayne by Jessica Rayne, Readily Chapel, Upstairs Jozi, Toyboy Designs and Joey and Julia...
And below are a few pics of the very first Scrabbyl Campaign!!

Need more?
Go to their Facebook page OVER HERE , Like the page and watch closely for this
  ingeniousgrowing local brand...!

...as well as finding them on Twitter - @Scrabbyl

Leave comments and let us know what you think!

Enjoy!

(Cape Town) Lazy Days by Luc Braquet

Lazy Days...

.....................................................

This GORGEOUS fashion editorial by Luc Braquet
tells a story of... well, Luc wanted to leave that part up
for you to decide when you glance over the beautiful images yourself.

So here it is. Two gorgeous girls,
carefree, laid back hanging out in their Cape Town apartment...

Photographer Luc says (and I quote)

I think that when you travel, you can find inspiration everywhere…you just have to breathe with your eyes..

he then goes on to say

I think this kind of inspiration is something that is very hard to get in your own city..”

The fact that Luc shot this shoot with analogue and not
a digital camera all the more adds to the
dreamy almost "raw" natural look of this editorial.
And when you look over the photos, if you're from Cape Town
(as I proudly am)
and you know the energy and atmosphere of this unique, small
but beautiful city, the coloration of the shoot also
starts to make sense to you, and being someone
from this city, I start to feel at home...

The Behind The Scenes video,
shot by local creative Adriaan Louw
takes you right into the center of this little world Luc creates.
It's always fun to see videos of fashion shoots as it
creates that third dimension for you to
truely be apart of what the photographer, stylist and everyone
else on the set was trying to convey... Well done Adriaan...
A truley gorgeous little flick!

My Summer Fav - Baggy Boyfriend Vest

Baggy Boyfriend Vests...

..........................................................

The whole Bandeau under a baggy vest thing is DEF gonna my my "thang" for summer.
I know it's nothing new, but I LOVE the relaxed half trashy sexy look about it ;)

So in preparation for my label, I've been messing around at home with a few ideas...
WILDFOX is one of the best online stores to get your gorgeous graphic Boyfriend Vest

(And by the way, actually buying a guy's racer vest also works... ;)

Just thought I'd share my little garment, as well as
my inspiration from none other than WILDFOX COUTURE

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!!
Let me know your thoughts on this style... Is it something you'd wear?

Daily Look : Houndstooth & Fur

Daily Look : Houndstooth & Fur

.........................................

I decided to do a daily look dedicated to the seemingly
hottest coloration this Autumn / Winter -

BLACK AND WHITE

Houndstooth has made a bit of a comeback this Winter,
so I can pull out my very old Houndstooth coat again and wear it proudly :)

Since rocking the black a white look needs to be done carefully,
playing with shadows and textures to not create such a flat look,
I thought I'd do the same.

My Bag (Given to me as a Birthday gift from my loving sister, Candy)
is from Aldo, and I ADORE it. It's covered in black faux fur at the top
and I can't stop stoking it when ever I'm wearing it ;)
I've teamed this with a black lace dress, white lace stockings
rock/grunge inspired rings and patent black courts.

Click below to go hype my look on Lookbook.nu

Also go check out my boyfriend's blog
(the brilliant guy who takes all my pics.. )

;)

We Need Bandeaus!

Bandeaus....

........................................................................

So recently I completed a part-time sewing course which I was
sent on by my company. It was tons of fun, and a GREAT way to help
me along with my very own label which is due to launch nearer to the
end of this year...

(yes, you heard it here first so watch this space....)!!

The very first thing I attempted to make myself
was a basic rouched Bandeau, which I must say came out rather beautifully

This is me wearing my home-made Bandeau

Bandeaus are going to be a HUGE part of my label, as they are
quickly becoming another sister to the
What Every Girl Needs In Her Closet items!!

They are perfect to wear under your sheer garments if you don't want
to rock a bra, they work perfectly with high-waisted skirts and shorts,
and are comfy - as - hell to wear under pretty much anything!!

Want some more inspiration?
Check out my bandeau-inspired images
(all from weheartit.com)

LOVELY
