Coachella - Planet Blue

COACHELLA...

..............................................

... WOW. And STILL there are Coachella lookbooks
flooding every fashion corner of the net! ;)

I love festivals, and being from Cape Town, South Africa we have some of the best!

I particularly love this lookbook, as Planet Blue really has captured the kind of
rawness and grittyness that one experiences at a festival. There's a good mix of
grunge, boho, hippie and surfer in this lookbook. LOVE love love this...

Great summer inspiration

Pull and Bear - The Military Look

Military...

...........................................

... is a trend that is coming back onto the fashion scene!

I first noticed this trend in the Diesel Fall/Winter 2012 preview,
with their military colour palette and use of CAMO print.

Pull and Bear have taken that military-esque look and feel
and have created a little story around it.

First and foremost their use of camo and khaki
is pretty apparent, but I love how they bring in some
feminine softness with lace detail,
soft knits, faux furs
and sheer fabrics.

Pull and Bear have moved away from the
generic military look and have
made it their own... which I think is pretty exciting!!
I am keen to see how other brands and labels start
interpreting this trend..

Altogether something new to keep an eye out for!

Think you'll rock military again?

ENJOY

Blogger of the Moment - Saturday Girl SA

Saturday Girl SA...

...................................................

... I absolutely love the city I live in, and even more than that the people.
Cape Town really has some of the most diverse cultures and personalities in the world, and the same applies for its bloggers.

And now:
Meet Natalie, the girl behind the "Saturday Girl SA" blog!

Natalie

Just look at this gorgeous face!

I love her blog, firstly because of how personal it is. Natalie allows her readers
to have a first hand glance into her world and passions. Her blog is foremost
driven by her love for fashion, and is encrusted with photos and details about her daily life :)

Natalie, girl after my own heart, also has a huge passion for Dance. She is currently studying at VEGA and in what spare time she has she is a freelance stylist. I managed to get hold of her for more info... This is what she said:

How would you define your personal style?

--> Hmmm thats super tricky lol I tend to see it as a beach/surfer/hippy girl kind of style all year round, I love brands like Von Zipper, RVCA and Insight, the whole beach girl hippy feel is totally my vibe, I usually wear tight skinny jeans ( I am obsessed with Jeans) ans Converse sneakers. I love to mix and match with casual styles I am all about tight on the bottom, flowy on top and I love accessories, rings and earrings that reflect my mood or feel.

What are your TOP 3 Summer 2012 Trends?

--> Loads of necklaces all worn at once from chunky to to fine necklaces.
 Brightly coloured shorts, especially high-waisted
Cute 1920's style summer dresses with quirky sunglasses

Do you have any fav local shopping places?

--> I am a big fan of Mr Price Clothing and Second Hand shopping as well as local Fashion Markets. Amazing talent in SA!
Just a few things Natalie likes... and a small introduction to her blog!
................
Like myself, Natalie is also an avid Polyvore - ist!
Her sets pretty accurately reflect her own style in a way,
and it's clear this girl has a knack for fashion

Gotta LOVE the talent in South Africa!

London Trash

LONDON TRASH...

.................................................

... This gorgeous fashion editorial,
shot by Joel Cartier is all about living on the dangerous side,
glamorously.

To me, there's quite a clear line that's emerged between "grunge" style.
One the one side, you have your 90's Revival Grunge trends which involves (in a nutshell)
distressed denims, band t-shirts and messy hair. Then there's the
Glam Trash slash Biker Chick trend that's more of an evening look (hence the word GLAM)
mixed in with loads of bling, perfect waves in the hair, tight biker jackets
and even tighter pants.

Personally, I mix my styles between the two of these, and when my eye caught
this GORGEOUS editorial on none other than my fav blog Bentrovatoblog.com
I thought I had to re-blog it!

My fav item in this shoot, which I think every grungy girl should try get their hands on
are those gorgeous little half-leather gloves. If you're looking to buy a pair
there are an amazingly comfy pair at Forever New (my college at work got them for her birthday
and I tried them on and didn't want to give them back.. hehe!)

Elissa Leather Gloves

Otherwise enjoy the bad-ass inspiration
and be sure to visit Forever New for other gorgeous stuff!!

ENJOY

Mr Price - Online Shop Launches Monday 30 July!!

MR PRICE...

.........................................................

... is our beloved go-to affordable South African store
for top trends and lovely shoes, accessories, jamies, undies etc etc.

Unfortunately, one thing about this store is that you have to continually go in to the shop
in order to bag yourself some of the top items as products tend to fly off the shelves...
SO after this in mind, you can imagine how DELIGHTED I was
to hear that Mr Price is now launching their official
on

MONDAY the 30th JULY 2012

YES!

Here's a sneak peak of what to expect, courtesy of the Mr Price Twitter group:

Quoted from the  IOL Mr Price Report:

"A recent study from MasterCard, revealed that online shopping had increased in SA and continued to show potential for growth.
The company's Worldwide Online Shopping Survey said that the number of South Africans shopping online had steadily increased over the past two years, with 58% of respondents in the survey of active internet users saying that they used the internet for shopping."

So GREAT news for us!

I for one am very happy that South Africa is moving forward in terms of being
little tech savvy online shoppers and think that this is a bold and fantastic
move for Mr Price.

EYES peeled on Monday the 30th of July people!

CAN'T WAIT

A Trend To DYE For

To Dye For...

.............................................

... There has been an ever increasing come-back
of self dyed clothing
(and hair - which started
with the pastel hair trend )
for Summer 2012! Oh How Fun!

Is it the want to have something original.. different from what anyone else
would own? Tie-dying is a very crafty and personal project that will give your clothes
a once-in-a-lifetime effect so there's a huge plus if you know
how to do this yourself at home. Of course, if that is a bit too much of a challenge,
brands like Urban Outfitters have made the trend of Tye-Dye VERY accessible!!

There are a variety of colours AND styles to suit your look at Urban Outfitters.
Whether its bright and bold of grungy and subdued...
Tie-dye will def be a popular trend this Summer
so it's time to start looking out for beautifully dyed garments... (Not to forget Dip-dying too!)

Take a look at the Urban Outfitters TyeDye lookbook,
as well as a few of the items you can get on their site!!

LOVING this trend!!

ENJOY
